I know people are all about a chicken caesar salad, and don’t get me wrong I am too, but a steak caesar just hits different! If you haven’t made a steak caesar before, you need to try out this recipe!
Also, this dressing is likely one of my favourite things I learned how to make from my dad. It’s obviously nothing crazy but it is definitely the best caesar dressing I have ever had and I am so happy I learned this one from him many years ago.
Every year on my birthday (still to this day) my parents ask me what I want for dinner, and I always ask for a caesar salad on the side of whatever we are having because it’s the best dang dressing. It just goes to show how good it is because I still am not sick of it after 20 plus years.
This particular recipe makes a pretty big batch of dressing, definitely more than you will need for the two salads, so feel free to cut this recipe in half, but I do recommend making it as per the recipe. You can keep it in the fridge, and use it another time! It lasts for a while, but I probably wouldn’t eat it after 2 weeks. You can use it for salads, garlic bread, and sometimes I use it as a base for a sandwich which is absolutely delicious.
A Few Tips:
Cooking time will vary on the steak depending on how you like your steak cooked, but I typically fry it on each side for about 2-3 minutes and it comes out a nice medium rare.
I like adding a bit more dressing at the end right onto the steak! Also, the feta cheese is optional, but I do find it adds a nice creaminess and texture to the salad.
Pan Fried Steak Caesar Salad
Ingredients
Dressing:
- 1.5 cups mayonnaise
- 3 cloves garlic
- 1 tsp yellow mustard
- 1 tsp worcherstershire
- 1.5 tsp anchovy paste
- 1/2 large lemon, juiced
- 1 tsp lemon zest, heaping
- 3/4 cup parmesan cheese
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
Salad Ingredients:
- 1 head romaine, chopped
- 1 head kale, chopped
- tomatoes, chopped
- red onion, chopped
- feta cheese, chopped
- croutons
Steak:
- 2 tbsp canola oil, for frying
- 2 sirloin steaks
- salt and pepper, to taste
- 3 garlic cloves
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 handful rosemary
Instructions
- Begin by chopping all of your ingredients for the salad.
- Add all of your dressing ingredients to bowl and grab your immersion blender and blend until smooth. If you don't have an immersion blender you can add all ingredients to a regular blender. Taste and add anything additional you think it may need. Set aside.
- Pat your steaks dry with paper towel and season generously with salt and pepper on each side.
- To a large pan, preferably cast iron, set to medium/high heat. Once hot, add your oil.
- To the pan add your steaks and cook on each side for 2-3 minutes. This will depend on how thick your steaks are and how you like them cooked. I do mine about 3 minutes per side.
- When you flip your steak to begin cooking on the other side, add your butter, garlic and rosemary and bast the steak as it cooks.
- Remove from heat, and let rest for a minute or two before slicing.
- Toss your salad with the dressing; start with adding about a half a cup of dressing and add more as you go.
- Add your croutons, red onion, tomatoes, feta cheese.
- Top with your steak and enjoy right away!

Best steak caesar ever! Thank you thank you!
Hey Amy! Yay, so happy you liked it and you are so welcome!
I absolutely love this salad and dressing. I have also used grilled chicken thighs that have marinated in a family vinegar based sauce. So awesome!!! My 15 yr old uses the dressing to dip his pizza in. It’s a winner! I have your bolognase on the stove as I write. Smells amazing! Thank you for all your recipes.
Hi Nicole – you are the best! Thanks for leaving a review, it means so much to me. I also use the dressing to dip my pizza into – it’s that good! xx
